These are the books I've read in the last few months and recommend:
Magic Hour Kristan Hannah A highly emotional story of a child psychiatrist going through a professional crisis and the mute wilderness child who restores the doctor’s faith in life and love.
The Bone Garden Tess Gerritsen This historical novel is something new for Tess who normally writes detective and medical thrillers. Two women-one contemporary and the other living in the 19th century- are connected by a corpse in this historical medical thriller.
Soul Catcher Michael C. White A soul catcher (a slave catcher) goes on a journey of self-discovery and redemption when he hunts two runaway slaves in this beautifully written and lyrical novel.
Drums of Autumn, Fiery Cross & A Breath of Snow and Ashes Diana Gabaldon The continuation of the Jamie and Clare Frazier saga. Set in the years immediately before the American Revolution these books are rich in historical detail.
High Noon Nora Roberts This is Nora Roberts at her best. A strong female character, hostage negotiator, Phobe McNamara and a sexy bar owner, Duncan Swift, make this romantic thriller a must read. It doesn’t hurt that it takes place in Savannah, Ga, one of the south’s most gracious cities.
On Highland Shore & Rivals for the Crown Kathleen Givens 13th century Scotland through the eyes of fictional characters, Margaret MacDonald and Gannon MacMagnus. A page turner and beautifully written.
Thousand Voices Lisa Wingate Great emotional read. As a musician, I loved Lisa description of playing the piano and feeling the music. She hit all the right notes.
The Tin Roof Blowdown James Lee Burke James Lee Burke has done a wonderful job integrating the effects of Hurricane Katrina on the city of New Orleans and into a crime story full of twists and turns.
Sugar Daddy Lisa Kleypas A wonderful Cinderella story. I cried through most of the book.
Nineteen Minutes Jodi Picoult A consummate writer reveals the pain and anguish of being a teenager and the price paid for popularity.
Voyager Diana Gabaldon (Outlander Series) Diana Gabaldon is a great storyteller. You feel as though you're living in 18th Century Scotland.
Rising Moon Lori Handeland I love New Orleans and because this novel was set in N.O. I was destined to love the story before I started the book. I kept reading because Lori H. has a wonderful voice and she makes you feel the mood of the city.
Play Dirty Sandra Brown Sandra makes you want to love her hero even though he's not squeaky clean.
Up Close and Dangerous Linda Howard What can I say? Linda Howard writes hot sensual romances. One of my all time favorite authors.
